How we research and write
Tidied publishes a large library of cleaning guides. This page explains where the advice comes from, what we will not print, and how to tell us when we have got something wrong.
Every number has a source, or it doesn't run
If we quote a statistic, it is linked to the organisation that produced it — a government body, a public health agency, a trade association or a peer-reviewed study. If we cannot link a figure to something you can check yourself, we cut the figure and say the thing qualitatively instead. “Damp bathrooms accelerate tarnishing” does not need a percentage attached to be true or useful.
We do not invent expertise
Our guides are written and reviewed by the Tidied editorial team. We do not publish under invented personal bylines, we do not claim professional credentials we do not hold, and we do not present made-up client stories as case studies. Where a task genuinely needs a professional — structural damp, asbestos, pest infestation, anything involving gas or electrics — we say so and stop.
Health claims get a higher bar
Anything touching illness, allergies, pregnancy, mould or chemical safety is held to a stricter standard than the rest of the site. Those claims are sourced to health authorities such as the CDC, the EPA or the relevant national body, or they are removed. Nothing here is medical advice, and it is not a substitute for asking a professional about your own situation.
We correct things in the open
When we find an error we fix the article and update its modified date rather than quietly rewriting history. We are currently working back through older posts to remove statistics that were published without adequate sourcing. If you spot one before we do, please tell us.
Who writes this
Tidied is a small, independent, self-funded team. Our guides are written and edited in-house, and reviewed against the sourcing standard above before they go out. We are not a publisher with a newsroom, and we would rather tell you that plainly than dress the work up as something it isn't.
Found an error, a stale figure, or a claim that does not hold up? Tell us — corrections are genuinely welcome, and they get made.
How we make money
Tidied is a paid product, and the free tools and guides exist to introduce people to it. We also take part in the Amazon Associates programme, so some product links earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what we recommend: if the cheapest option is the right one, or the answer is “you already own something that does this”, that is what the guide says.
